The history of San Jose Earthquakes
San Jose Earthquakes, founded in 1974, is one of the oldest football clubs in the United States and competes in Major League Soccer (MLS). The club is based in San Jose, California, and plays its home matches at PayPal Park, which seats 18,000 spectators.
The Earthquakes have won the MLS Cup twice, in 2001 and 2003, with players such as Landon Donovan and Dwayne De Rosario.
In 2006–2007, the club went on hiatus when the team was relocated to Houston to become the Houston Dynamo. However, the Earthquakes were re-established just a year later, in 2008.
San Jose is known for its fighting spirit and fierce rivalry with LA Galaxy, with their clashes dubbed the “California Clásico.” Despite mixed results over the years, the club maintains a loyal fan base and continues to strive to become a title contender in MLS once again.
