The history of Royal Antwerp
Royal Antwerp FC is Belgium’s oldest football club, founded in 1880, which has earned it the nickname The Great Old. The club plays its home matches at Bosuilstadion in Antwerp, which holds around 16,000 spectators, and boasts a proud history within Belgian football.
Antwerp has won the Belgian league title five times, most recently in 2023, as well as several domestic cup trophies. The club also reached the final of the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup in 1993, where they were defeated by Parma. In recent years, Antwerp has re-established itself as one of Belgium’s top clubs, with ambitions in both domestic and European competitions.
