The history of Parma
Parma is an Italian football club from the Emilia-Romagna region, founded in 1913. The club enjoyed its most successful period during the 1990s and early 2000s, winning several major trophies, including two UEFA Cups (1994/95 and 1998/99). This success made Parma one of the most prominent clubs in Europe during that era.
However, the club’s fortunes changed dramatically when its owner, the dairy conglomerate Parmalat, collapsed in one of the biggest corporate scandals in Italian history. As a result, Parma was declared bankrupt in 2015.
The club had to start over from the lower leagues but made an impressive comeback, returning to Serie A in the 2018/19 season after three consecutive promotions. Parma play their home matches at Stadio Ennio Tardini, which has been their home ground since 1923.
