The History of Real Betis
Real Betis is based in Seville and was founded back in 1907, making it one of the oldest and most traditional football clubs in Spain. The club has experienced both success and challenges, moving between La Liga and the Segunda División. Their honours in Spanish cups include both victories and final appearances in the Copa del Rey.
Real Betis play their home matches at the Estadio de La Cartuja, which has a capacity of 70,000 spectators who cheer the team on to new successes. With their green-and-white kits, they are nicknamed ‘Los Verdiblancos’ and ‘Los Béticos’. Swedish striker Johnny Ekström could also be seen at Real Betis for a short spell in the 1990s when he joined the club on loan.
