Torino’s history
Torino FC was founded in 1906 and has an impressive history in Italian football. Based in Turin, the club’s colours – maroon and white – have earned it the nickname “I Granata” (“The Maroons”). The team plays its home matches in front of up to 25,000 spectators at the Stadio Olimpico di Torino, formerly Juventus’ home ground.
During the 1940s, Torino enjoyed an exceptional period of success, winning five consecutive Serie A titles. Sadly, the club was struck by tragedy in 1949 when the entire team perished in the Superga air disaster. Despite this heartbreaking event, Torino FC has remained a respected and influential force in Italian football.
