Top tips from OLKA for your F1 trip
Attending a Formula 1 race is an exciting experience filled with high speed, incredible engineering, and a vibrant atmosphere. Here are some top tips and things you should do to make the most of your visit to a Formula 1 Grand Prix:
(You can easily find all of OLKA’s F1 tickets and packages, with or without flights, right here.)
1. Tickets and seating:
• Grandstand vs. General Admission: Grandstand tickets offer reserved seating with a better view of the circuit, while General Admission provides more flexibility but requires early arrival to secure a good spot.
• Choose your spot: Research the best areas around the circuit. Grandstands near overtaking zones, the pit lane, or those offering panoramic views can enhance your experience.
2. Accommodation and transport:
• Book early: Hotels near the circuit fill up quickly, so consider booking well in advance.
• Public transport: Use public transport if possible to avoid traffic jams and parking issues.
• For the following races, you can book our incredibly convenient round-trip bus transfer with a guide at the time of booking: Barcelona and Monza.
3. Arrive early:
• Explore the circuit: Arriving early allows you to get familiar with the layout, find food and drink options, and locate restrooms.
• Watch the support races: Enjoy the atmosphere and other racing events, such as Formula 2 or the Porsche Supercup, that take place before the main race.
4. Pit Walk and Fanzones:
• Pit Lane Walk: If your ticket includes access to the Pit Lane Walk, don’t miss it! You’ll have the chance to see the cars and teams up close.
• Fan Zones: Visit the Fan Zone for interactive experiences, simulators, merchandise, and opportunities to meet F1 drivers.
5. Bring the essentials:
• Ear protection: The noise can be deafening, especially close to the track. Bring earplugs or noise-cancelling headphones.
• Comfortable clothing and sun protection: Wear comfortable clothes and use sun protection, as you’ll likely be exposed to the elements for several hours.
• Binoculars and camera: Bring binoculars to get a closer view of the action and a camera to capture the memories.
6. Stay informed:
• Download the official F1 app: Stay updated with live timing, team radio, and track positioning.
• Programme guide: Pick up a programme guide for the event schedule, driver information, and a map of the circuit.
7. Food and drinks:
• Plan your meals: Food at the circuit can be expensive and involve long queues. Consider bringing your own snacks and water.
• Local food: If the circuit allows re-entry, take the opportunity to explore local dining options.
8. Explore the area:
• Local attractions: Make the most of your trip by exploring nearby sights and attractions.
• Circuit tours: Some circuits offer guided tours on non-race days, giving you behind-the-scenes access to the garages, control room, and podium.
