Braga’s history
Founded in 1921, SC Braga is one of Portugal’s leading football clubs. Based in the city of Braga, the club has established itself as one of the top challengers to the country’s “big three” – Benfica, Porto, and Sporting. Braga won their first major title in 1966 by lifting the Portuguese Cup.
Since then, the club has strengthened its position both nationally and internationally, with a Europa League final in 2011 as one of its highlights. The team plays its home matches in front of 30,000 spectators at the Estádio Municipal de Braga – also known as A Pedreira (“The Quarry”) – famous for its unique architecture.
