CD Santa Clara history
CD Santa Clara, based in Ponta Delgada on São Miguel in the Azores, is one of Portugal’s most geographically unique football clubs. Founded in 1927, the club has established itself over the years as the leading representative of the Azores in Portuguese top-flight football.
Santa Clara earned promotion to the Primeira Liga for the first time in 1999 and has since enjoyed several spells in the country’s top division. One of the club’s greatest achievements came in the early 2020s, when the team finished high in the Primeira Liga table and qualified for European competition.
Home matches are played at Estádio de São Miguel, just outside Ponta Delgada, with a capacity of around 12,000 spectators. Here, you can experience an authentic Portuguese football atmosphere with strong local support and the spectacular scenery of the Azores providing a unique backdrop.
