CS Marítimo history
CS Marítimo, based in Funchal on the Portuguese island of Madeira, is one of the country’s most historic football clubs. Founded in 1910, the club has spent much of its history competing at the highest level of Portuguese football.
Marítimo has been a regular competitor in the Primeira Liga and has qualified for European competitions on several occasions. The club is known for its strong local roots and for being one of the most successful Portuguese clubs outside the country’s mainland.
Home matches are played at Estádio do Marítimo, a modern stadium with a capacity of around 11,000 spectators. Beautifully situated in Funchal, the stadium offers a unique setting where football is combined with Madeira’s spectacular scenery.
