FC Alverca history
FC Alverca, based in Alverca do Ribatejo just north of Lisbon, is a Portuguese football club with an interesting history. Founded in 1939, the club made a name for itself in the late 1990s when it established itself in the Primeira Liga and competed against several of the country’s biggest clubs.
After several years outside the top division, Alverca has made its way back to the Primeira Liga and is once again part of Portuguese top-flight football. The club is known for its strong youth development programme and has produced several players over the years who have gone on to join bigger clubs.
Home matches are played at Complexo Desportivo do FC Alverca, a stadium with a capacity of around 8,000 spectators. The stadium is located in Alverca do Ribatejo, just a short journey from central Lisbon.
