The history of CD Tenerife
Club Deportivo Tenerife, commonly known as CD Tenerife, was founded in 1922 and plays its home matches at Estadio Heliodoro Rodríguez López in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
The club enjoyed its golden era during the 1990s, when it established itself in La Liga and qualified for the UEFA Cup twice. A historic moment came in 1992 and 1993, when Tenerife defeated Real Madrid in decisive matches, denying them the league title and handing it to Barcelona instead.
The club is renowned for its strong local identity and passionate fans, who see the team as a symbol of pride for the island. They continue to dream of a return to La Liga in the near future.
